Everyone believes they can spot a liar. Unaided, most of us perform little better than chance. This day is built to change that, one layer at a time, from the outside in.

The Origins Two thousand years of thinkers, physicians and psychologists, and the mistakes that still colour how we judge one another.

The Crowd Why people say and do things in a group that they never would alone. Read the room before you read the person.

The Performance Cold reading, the art of appearing to know a stranger in minutes. Learn the craft, and learn to catch it being used on you.

The Body Posture, gesture and distance. Find the baseline first, because nothing can be read until you know what normal looks like.

The Face Paul Ekman's work on expression, from the Facial Action Coding System to the micro-expressions people cannot fully suppress.

The Lie Deception leakage at the centre of it all, taught through real examples, so you see the signals in context before you are asked to find them.

One rule runs through the whole day: every signal is a question worth asking, never proof of a lie.

For: HR professionals, legal practitioners, recruiters, investigators, business owners, and anyone who decides based on what others tell them.

Led by the Observatory, Croweaters' behavioural intelligence division, with over 1,200 hours of applied casework behind it.
