Generation W: Worldwide Documentary Premiere

Alphaville is partnering with British platform Generation W to host the New York premiere of Worldwide on Tuesday 22nd July.

Doors open 8pm. Film screening begins at 8:30pm and runs until approximately 10:30pm, followed by a playlist celebrating women in music from New York and the UK while people can stay around and meet likeminded creatives in New York.

The film

Filmed over five years, Worldwide follows the evolution of Generation W from an online festival connecting 50 women across 20 countries during the 2020 pandemic to an international live music platform that has presented more than 100 independent women in music at iconic venues in London, Paris, Copenhagen, New York, Los Angeles and beyond.

The documentary is directed by British filmmaker Nick Donnelly, whose previous films have interviewed US musicians who have sold over 100 million records.

Watch never before seen footage of artists from India, USA, Africa, South America and Asia taking to the international stage for the first time after lockdown, while going behind the scenes of a new generation of women in music determined to build careers on their own terms.
