At our Compost Hubs, food scraps collected from the community are transformed into nutrient-rich compost, and we need your help to make it happen! As a Compost Hub Support Volunteer, you’ll gain hands-on experience working alongside our knowledgeable Compost Managers. Get ready to leave feeling accomplished, a little sweaty, and brimming with new compost knowledge.
ABOUT ACTIVITY: Roll up your sleeves and dive into a variety of engaging activities; whether it’s managing a three-bin system, tending to a compost pile, sifting finished compost, or exploring a mix of everything. There’s something for everyone, from beginners to seasoned pros! Plus, our Compost Hubs are situated in LA County’s most cherished green spaces: community gardens, urban farms, and beautiful parks. Join passionate community composters, learn to turn food scraps into rich compost, and connect with the local food system.
MORE INFO: • You will be working outdoors! Shade levels vary by site. • Activity level can be adjusted to your comfort and abilities, just communicate with your Compost Manager. • No prior composting experience is needed; everyone is welcome! • This site has public restrooms • If you sign up, we ask that you show up! AGE REQUIREMENT: This volunteer activity is best suited for volunteers aged 16 and up. Minors under the age of 16 should come accompanied by a parent or guardian unless other arrangements are made. Contact [email protected] for more information.
