Dutch-Turkish psychedelic band Altin Gün performs grooves from their new album Garip blending Anatolian 70s psych-funk and folk.
Amsterdam-based Dutch psychedelic quintet Altin Gün has been at the vanguard of the 21st-century revival of Turkish-influenced grooves since their 2018 debut album, "On". Masterfully blending Anatolian 70s psych-funk with modern synths and drum machines , the band constantly evolves while maintaining a deep, underlying connection to Turkish folk traditions. Their fifth and most eclectic album to date, "Garip" , serves as a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Turkish folk-bard Neşet Ertaş , featuring nuanced interpretations of his classic songs. Driven by founders like Erdinç Eçevit and Jasper Verhulst , the new record steps away from obvious psych-rock into a more mature, vibing territory, incorporating everything from lush string arrangements with French-Italian influences to laid-back Californian hippie-rock vibes.
