3D Printing 101: Self-Serve Certification
Makerspace and Making · Adult · Teen
This class enables customers to book Prusa i3 MK3S and MK3S+ 3D printers at the Stanley A. Milner Library's Makerspace. Once you've attended this online class, staff will complete your training on the 3D printer's operation during your first 3D printer booking.
In this class EPL will cover:
• Basic 3D printing concepts, materials, and equipment terminology. • Safe use of a 3D printer, guidelines for use at EPL, and material fees. • Key design constraints through an example created in free web-based application TinkerCAD. • Profiles, settings, and slicing process with PrusaSlicer.
Prior to the class, registered participants will receive a Zoom link.
For this course, it's recommended that:
• Participants are comfortable typing, mousing, and navigating Windows OS files and folders. • Participants create a free TinkerCAD account before the class. • Participants download free PrusaSlicer ( drivers & apps ) to follow along with the slicing demonstration, however, this is optional.
Please contact us directly if you require access to a computer to participate in this online class.
This class is primarily designed for ages 12 and up. We welcome younger customers to participate - they may need help from a parent or caregiver for the class. Customers under 12 must be accompanied by a caregiver during 3D printing bookings.
