Undercurrent present Earthfall
A dance theatre piece blending aerial performance and Brazilian Zimbabwean and Irish cultural dances exploring connection in a Kafkaesque limbo
Four people find themselves trapped in a Kafkaesque realm of incomprehensible rules, with boundaries and schedules that change without rhyme or reason. Some have been here for years, while others have just arrived. Alienated and lacking agency they explore how to survive in this seemingly endless limbo.
A young girl is watching. How much of what she witnesses are her own nightmares and how much reality? Together they find pathways that lead them deeper into the restricting maze until their connection to each other brings the strength to bend rules and break walls.
With a striking theatrical set and original sound score, Earthfall combines dance theatre with aerial performance and the cultural dances of Brazil, Zimbabwe and Ireland. Offering a joyous fusion of cultural dances this international and intergenerational ensemble ultimately express, without guard, the profound necessity for connection and the deep desire to move without limits.
Directed by Kate Wilson the ensemble are Gaelin Little, Yves Lorrhan, Cynthia Siberry, Robin Cara, and Georgie Sachs Warren. Original sound score by Olivir Haylett, lighting and props Michael Cummins and Charlie Wilson, costumes Lucie O'Hara, script support Jean Marie Perinetti, and visual and media support Milo Cummins.
