
Seed Saving Basics
Hands-on session teaching how to collect, process and store vegetable and flower seeds for climate-adapted gardening.
We will cover essential techniques for collecting, cleaning, drying, and storing seeds from vegetables and flowers, focusing on sustainability and selecting the best plants for future, climate-adapted generations. This hands-on session will include plant selection appropriate for seed saving, pollination, identifying mature seeds, processing techniques and proper storage conditions to ensure viability.
Community-led Learning Bio: Delise Weir is a Master Gardener and Master Food Preserver who worked at Shepherd's Seeds in Felton for 5 years after graduating from UCSC's Environmental Studies program. She currently sits on the board of the Friends of the UCSC Farm & Garden.
