Open Studio: Combine Design

Get inspired by the Hirshhorn classics every Friday and Saturday in July at Open Studio! Each week we take inspiration from groundbreaking artists of our time, such as Alexander Calder, Olafur Eliasson, Juan Muñoz, and more. Join us this Friday as we draw inspiration from Robert Rauschenberg’s Fossil for Bob Morris (1965), which was displayed in the museum’s inaugural 1974 exhibition.

First we’ll explore Rauschenberg’s artistic practice. Then we’ll experiment with materials like photos, fabric scraps, and paint sticks to make mixed-media collages of our own. Meet in Art School on the museum’s Lower Level.

Activities are designed to captivate everyone—from budding young artists to seasoned creators—and allow them to craft, create, and learn. No reservations or tickets are required. Stroller parking is available in the Hirshhorn Lobby and on the Lower Level.
