Lughnasa Illustration Workshop
A 4-hour pen-and-ink illustration workshop by Denise Conroy exploring autumnal folklore, technique and nature-inspired monochrome imagery
Celebrate Lughnasa and the arrival of autumn with a workshop exploring seasonal themes of gathering, gifting, and connecting with nature through art.
This 4 hour workshop invites participants to explore the art of pen and ink illustration, with a thematic focus on the threshold time of early Autumn.
Through experimenting with core drawing techniques of form, tone, texture, and composition, participants will create engaging monochrome illustrations informed by layers of folk traditions, mythological tales, and the ecological markers associated with the turning of the seasons. The workshop is suitable for all levels, and is designed to develop participants' artistic skills while invoking curiosity, connection, and kinship with the wild world. All materials will be provided.
Participants who have attended previous Threshold workshops will be provided with additional exercises during the Technique portion of the workshop, to continue to build on skills learned in past sessions.
