LEARN: Rewoven: The Slow Scroll
Learn · Activities · 18+
There's a particular kind of quiet that comes with slow stitching. No rushing, no right answer — just fabric, thread, and time to let something take shape in your hands. In this full-day workshop, textile tutor Claire Nichol introduces you to the art of the slow scroll: a stitched, layered piece made from recycled and reclaimed materials. Every piece of fabric has a history, and that's exactly the point. Claire's whole practice is rooted in reusing and reworking — nothing wasted, everything considered. You're welcome to bring along a men's shirt or other fabric you'd like to give a second life. Otherwise, Claire will have materials ready to work with. Using patchwork, hand stitching and slow stitch techniques, you'll build up your scroll over the course of the day, leaving with a finished piece to hang on your wall and keep. No experience needed — this is a workshop for anyone who wants to slow down and make something with intention. All materials provided. Bring a shirt if you have one you'd like to use.
