GELLI HAHA

Gelli Haha is an experimental pop artist whose world oscillates between science fiction and avant-garde theatre. Her project is a completely free creative playground, somewhere between Studio 54 and Area 51. Her music is built on contrasts: at once light-hearted and profound, ironic yet sincere.

Switcheroo, her latest album, is the soundtrack to the ‘Gelliverse’, a sensory universe imagined by Gelli. Sharing a taste for slightly offbeat pop and vintage gear, producer Sean Guerin (of the band De Lux) joined her to transform raw demos into an intense sonic experience, ditching overly rigid structures in favour of something more spontaneous and electric.

Every track on Switcheroo draws on a whole collection of recording tools: slightly mad analogue effects, such as the Eventide Harmonizer, the MXR Pitch Transposer or various Electrix units, giving the album a deliberately imperfect and humorous texture. Switcheroo is, above all, a letting go – a little joke that has become a real spectacle.
