About Crankdat

Born Christian Smith on March 2, 1997, in Youngstown, Ohio, Crankdat grew up as a dedicated athlete who earned a full-ride track and field scholarship to Kent State University before making the bold decision to turn it down and pursue music full-time. As a teenager, he began uploading remixes to SoundCloud, quickly gaining attention for his innovative sound design and high-energy edits. His 2015 remix of Fetty Wap's Trap Queen went viral and racked up millions of streams, catching the ear of Skrillex and The Chainsmokers and launching his career. He began touring professionally in 2017, releasing original singles including Dollars, his Jauz collaboration I Hold Still, and his T-Pain-assisted In the Air. His reputation for explosive live performances at EDC Las Vegas, Ultra Music Festival, and Tomorrowland grew rapidly.
