Conjuring a unique but universal language from the acoustic guitar, Tony McManus has extended and transcended contemporary Celtic music. His dexterous, dazzlingly original playing draws on traditions across the Celtic diaspora — Scotland, Ireland, Brittany, Galicia, Asturias, Cape Breton, and Quebec — and on other flavours such as jazz and East European music. Known for transposing the ornamentation of bagpipe and fiddle tunes and the phrasing of Gaelic song onto the guitar, McManus bridges Celtic music and other guitar genres.
