Pottery Pumpkins and Toadstools
One-day handbuilding pottery workshop with Helen McCormick to create decorated pumpkin and toadstool sculptures
Join Helen McCormick for a fun and creative pottery workshop where you will learn how to design and build your own charming pumpkin and toadstool sculptures. Guided step by step, you’ll explore traditional hand-building techniques, from shaping the clay to adding intricate details. You’ll also discover how to bring your creations to life with coloured decorating slips and decorative techniques. For an extra touch of magic, you’ll have the option to transform your sculptures into tea light holders, casting a warm and enchanting glow.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some pottery experience, this workshop is perfect for unleashing your artistic side. All materials and equipment will be provided. Please bring an apron or wear old clothes, and if possible, trim any long nails to help with the clay work. After the workshop, your pumpkin will be carefully fired in Helen's kiln and returned to you, ready to add an Autumnal touch to your home just in time for Halloween!
Your completed pumpkin will be available for collection approximately 6 weeks after the workshop, and we’ll notify you of the collection date and time. Please feel free to bring along a packed lunch to enjoy in your lunch break, tea and coffee will be available in the workshop room.
The workshop runs 10:15 - 16:45
