Family Resource Navigators

Family Resource Navigators is a community-based organization that supports families after a new disability or special health care diagnosis for their child. They offer in-person referral help and guidance at the library.

New Diagnosis: Navigating the Unknown Receiving a new diagnosis for a child can be overwhelming and anxiety-inducing. Many parents feel unsure about what steps to take next, especially when facing cultural stigma or other life stressors like housing or employment issues. Families come to FRN for guidance and emotional support as they figure out next steps.

Transition to Adulthood: Becoming Young Adults When young adults with disabilities or special health care needs age out of school services, families often don’t know what comes next. FRN helps explore options for continued education, independence, and job readiness, and supports decision making for young adults.

Navigating the Systems: A Need for Guidance Many families receive basic services like IEPs or therapies but feel frustrated with the results. FRN provides help navigating complex systems, advocating for better services, and accessing additional resources to improve care and outcomes.
