One of Europe's largest international literary festivals in Kraków with authors, debates, readings and cross‑media programming

The Conrad Festival is the largest international literary event in Poland and one of the largest in Europe; it received the EFFE Prize for 2019-2020. It presents literature written in all corners of the globe, originating from myriad different backgrounds and serving as a source of inspiration and common experience. Kraków is visited by guests from all over the globe to celebrate and promote the art of translation and mutual understanding. It brings together acclaimed authors and literary outsiders with readers, encouraging lively discussions with social and artistic aspects. The festival also includes debates, workshops, film screenings, theatre performances, concerts, exhibitions, literary guided tours and urban games prepared in collaboration by the City of Kraków, the KBF and the Tygodnik Powszechny Foundation. The festival has welcomed over 1500 authors from all over the globe, including Yurii Andrukhovych, Boris Akunin, Svetlana Alexievich, Paul Auster, Jaume Cabré, Siri Hustvedt, Etgar Keret, Sven Lindqvist, Amos Oz, Orhan Pamuk, Oksana Zabuzhko and Serhiy Zhadan. Polish guests have included Joanna Bator, Jacek Dehnel, Jacek Dukaj, Janusz Głowacki, Manuela Gretkowska, Wojciech Jagielski, Hanna Krall, Dorota Masłowska, Jerzy Pilch, Andrzej Stasiuk, Olga Tokarczuk, Wiesław Myśliwski, Szczepan Twardoch and Jakub Żulczyk.
