Art Workshop with Lindsay
Weekly mixed-media art course with artist Lindsay, open to all skill levels and prioritized for DC residents 60+ (registration required)
In this course, participants will explore a variety of mixed-media approaches to art. Mixed media can unlock a variety of textures, styles, and imaginative avenues. We will discuss combinations of materials that complement one another and how to achieve successful compositions through a range of media. Participants will learn from artists who have mixed-media practices and create compositions of their own.
Students will have the opportunity to work from reference imagery as well as more abstractly. Participants of all skill levels are invited to join. Students are welcome to bring any supplies they would like to experiment with, aside from toxic or disruptive substances (such as oil paints, spray paints, etc.). Supplies are limited.
About the instructor: Lindsay is an artist fascinated by the layered relationships humans have with outdoor spaces, especially those shaped by American tendencies to romanticize nature. She creates paintings inspired by local fragments of landscape, often incorporating sculptural elements. Originally from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, she now lives and works in Arlington, Virginia. Mueller holds a BFA in Painting and a BA in Psychology from Boston University and an MFA in Visual Arts from American University. She has exhibited across the East Coast and received the Bethesda Painting Young Artist Award in 2023 and was a 2025 Sondheim Art Prize semifinalist. She is currently an artist-in-residence at MoCA Arlington.
The program is in partnership with Iona Senior Services and Around Town DC and is funded by the DC Department of Aging and Community Living for DC residents 60 and up. Please register for this program at www.aroundtowndc.org/register/ under sign up tab.
