Circulus Anni
The Polish Radio Choir's male section performs medieval liturgical music from Wawel Cathedral's archives, following the rhythm of the liturgical year.
Neither the venue nor the repertoire has been chosen at random. After all, Wawel Cathedral has for centuries been one of the most important centers of religious and cultural life in Kraków and Europe, and the manuscripts preserved in the archives of the Kraków Cathedral Chapter stand as priceless testaments to this tradition. The concert by the male section of the Polish Radio Choir – Lusławice, under the direction of Dr.
Susi Ferfoglia, will thus attempt to restore the music to its natural context; the audience will hear compositions that accompanied the faithful in this very space for centuries, arranged in accordance with the rhythm of the liturgical year—from the lamentations of Job to the triumph of the Resurrection.
The concert concludes the international academic conference The Oleśnicki Antiphonary: An Interdisciplinary Study , dedicated to one of the most valuable medieval liturgical manuscripts associated with Wawel Cathedral.
