Native Roots
Celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day at the Gardner Museum with native plant histories and Indigenous artists and curators.
Join us as we celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day in community. This year, we're centering the histories and stories of the native plants that reside in our Courtyard and gardens, allowing us to acknowledge the indigenous soil from which they grow and the original and current stewards of the land upon which the Museum resides. The Gardner Museum is honored to collaborate with: • Hawk Henries—artist, composer, and flute musician of the Chaubunagungamaug band of Nipmuck • Malissa Costa (Mashpee Wampanoag)—Plimoth Patuxet Museums Associate Director of Indigenous Outreach and Guest Experience • Danielle Alonso (Apache)—Plimoth Patuxet Museums Curator of Indigenous Material Culture and Research
