This time our facilitated portion of the night before the jam will be held by: Max (they/them) is a genderqueer experiential educator and facilitator. Their inspiration for their work comes from the lived experience of finding wisdom, peace, and self-understanding through expression and intuitive storytelling through the body. Movement has always been Max’s teacher. They are inspired by the elements and the holding capacity of nature, reassured by the infinite uniqueness of others’ authentic expressions, and are guided by intuition rooted in love, care, and respect. Movement has always been a way to practice telling the truth. To express in order to feel, process, understand, listen, and validate self. They have navigated mobility and pain-based challenges related to their body, and have a deep devotion toward honoring the thread woven between the emotional, psychic, and somatic. They are informed by trauma-aware trainings, and honor this in their facilitation. They are soft-hearted, playful, grounded, and honest. They hold students dear to their heart in their facilitation style, and teach from a place of love and devotion.

This space was born out of the desire to have an exclusive movement improv space for queer people that centers trans bodies to build comfort and trust outside of a cis/het centric space.
The flow of the evening begins with an opening circle where names, pronouns, and introductions are shared as well as community agreements. After that, there will be a 45 minute arrival practice which aims to guide participants into settling into their bodies and the space. Partner work (contact improvisation/group scores) may be introduced during this, but all offerings are optional. Contact Improvisation (CI) is an element of our jams but not the sole focus, and is approached with consent at the center. After the arrival practice ends, we will…
