Emerson
Dad's Mood Monthly Presents:
**Emerson:** four piece indie rock band from Fleet, Hampshire. The group consists of frontman George Atkin, guitarist Alex Groom, bassist Will Lynch and drummer Matt Cairns. All hailing from the small commuter town, the four have known each other from school age. They formed in 2022 when the four returned home after studying in various parts of the country.
Atkin’s impressive, developed songs provide the canvas for the group’s sound - blending the romanticism and song structures of 60s and 70s pop music (Bowie, The Beatles, The Hollies) with idyllic guitar hooks reminiscent of 2000s indie bands (Strokes, Cribs, Arctic Monkeys). Underpinning this are Lynch’s melodic, punchy basslines - as present as those of Squire of Yes or Foxton of The Jam. Wrapping it all together are Cairns’ reliant drums, taking on a loose feel resembling what you might hear on a mid-70s rock and roll LP.
With prosperous support slots for Full Flower Moon Band, Stone, FEET, The Molotovs, The Bluetones and Beddy Rays already under their belt as well as several festival appearances - including a mainstage slot at Camper Calling - the boys continue to go from strength to strength.
