Communal coastal fishing session for all skill levels with shared food, learning and access support

We Are Black Fish - Hook Up

NOT JUST ABOUT THE CATCH, BUT ALSO ABOUT THE CATCH UP

Our Hook Ups are spacious, communal sessions where we fish, learn together and share food by the sea. All skill levels welcome - bring your own rod if you have one, and if not, we’ll hook you up.

What We’ll Do

Welcome and introductions Communal skill-sharing: setting up gear, learning the basics, asking questions Casting practice stations Lure fishing (weather dependent) Time to sit, rest, watch others fish, or sea-gaze Food shared together on the beach (bring something to share if you'd like)

You might not catch a fish - the focus is on learning, connection and technique.

What to Bring

Warm clothing Chair or blanket Flask with a warm drink and water Your own fishing gear (optional)

Hot drinks, food and toilets are available at The Lazy Shack.

Where

Meet outside The Lazy Shack at 11am. We’ll walk together (2 mins) to Fisherman’s Beach, to the right of the café, just past the boats.

Fisherman's Beach is a shingle beach with dips; not currently wheelchair accessible.

Access & Inclusion

We prioritise access across physical, neurodivergent and economic needs. Black and Global Majority people are prioritised for spaces.

Travel Bursary

The Baobab Fund reimburses half of travel costs for Black or Global Majority attendees who need support. Send receipt and bank details after the event to claim.

Children & Young People

Under-18s are welcome but must attend with an adult who remains responsible for them. Please book a ticket for each child.

Cost

Hook Ups are always free for Global Majority people. If you’re able, please consider a donation to help us cover equipment, bait, food and access support: weareblackfish.com/donatehere
