Hideous Panda: JUNE
Monthly alt-pop/indie night at The Shacklewell Arms with RY-GUY headlining plus UK indie and grunge-tinged support
The Hideous Mink and fierce panda labels once again turn the lights down low and the volume up to maximality for their monthly alt.pop playdate. This time around with have RY-GUY headlining, fresh from a Deadletter tour and whose music sits at the intersection of soul, psychedelia and art-pop, that intersection preumably being in the shattered heartlands of South London. TO THE LIGHTHOUSE hail from Halifax and peddle a fragrantly noirish indie rock passion with melody, mascara and some fearsomely beefy chordage, all fronted by a neo-gothic siren called Oolagh; HAMBURGER bowl in from Bristol six-strong and ready to right the world’s sonic wrongs with a dreamy grunge-gaze boy-girl sound which nods at nonchalant US behemoths of yonder daze - see Pavement, Sebadoh - whilst maintaining a whispery West Country elegance. Not wimpy at all, then.
