Tigran Hamasyan — Manifeste
Tigran Hamasyan performs Manifeste, a genre-defying piano show fusing jazz, progressive rock and Armenian folk.
Internationally acclaimed Armenian pianist and composer Tigran Hamasyan returns to Australia with his new work, Manifeste—a riveting live experience from one of the most original voices in contemporary music. Blending jazz improvisation, progressive rock, electronics and Armenian folk traditions, Hamasyan creates a sound entirely his own.
Hailed as “one of the most remarkable and distinctive jazz-meets-rock pianists of his generation”, his music moves from meditative to explosive, weaving intricate rhythms and ancient melodies into a bold, modern aesthetic. The result is both ancient and futuristic—rich with storytelling, raw emotion and technical brilliance.
Praised by Herbie Hancock, Brad Mehldau, and Chick Corea, Hamasyan has earned global acclaim, including top prizes at the Montreux Jazz Festival and Thelonious Monk Competition. With Manifeste, Hamasyan redefines contemporary piano performance—fearless, boundary-pushing and utterly unforgettable.
Support artist Zela Margossian Quintet is an ARIA nominated ethno-jazz band based in Sydney, performing original works and arrangements melding Armenian traditional music, jazz and classical roots. The ensemble features reeds, bass and percussion and has performed at venues including the Sydney Opera House and the Barbican.
