The Alice Project
Drama · Live · 10+
The show is inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and features many elements we are all familiar with. The music describes the hot summers day by the river, going down the rabbit hole, the Cheshire Cat, the Caterpiller, Mad Hatters Tea Party etc. It has the added twists of aural interventions from interviews we have done throughout 2024. Our starting point was the realisation that the New Forest was where the real Alice, Alice Liddell, who was the inspiration for the book, lived and died. The piece reflects the New Forest in the music — and draws thematic links from the forest and interviews with its inhabitants. Including the 40 Alices we tracked down to record.Instruments on stage will include: A Moog, a full drum kit, piano, a miniature piano, harmonium, melodica, accordion, clarinet, bass guitar, a collection of souped up tea-cups and home-made noise makers, many loop pedals for the circular caucus races and mad hatters tea parties, a megaphone, all mashed together with a load of surreal samples. The show is full of fun, surreal adventure, plus all the elements of Alice that we’re so familiar with. Aimed at adults and young people but not the normal Alice family show - for the curious and the curiouser...
