Summer Weekend Intensive: Improvising Shakespeare
One-day improv intensive teaching Shakespearean language and tropes with a same-day showcase
Learn how to safely use your body during high conflict moments on stage! Shakespearean Improv is a feat that wows the audience and is a fun challenge for the improviser.
Like any style, there are tricks and tools for bringing the Bard to the stage while making it up as you go. In this one day intensive, students will practice weaving the words of Shakespeare into spur of the moment comedy. English majors turned improvisors Kelsey Eigsti and Milo Wilder will guide students through practicing Early Modern English, metaphor, rhyming, and Shakespearean tropes.
Prerequisite: Level Four Improv or the equivalent at another training center with permission from the Training Center Director. This class includes a same day showcase at 6pm on Saturday.
Topics include: creating characters from Shakespearean tropes; playing with language and having fun doing it; committing to a presentational style of acting for the audience.
This one day weekend intensive is held Saturday, July 25 from 10:00am to 5:00pm with a same-day showcase at 6:00pm. Instructors: Kelsey Eigsti & Milo Wilder. All sales are final. Classes are non-refundable but enrollment can be deferred to a future class. All students must adhere to policies in the Stomping Ground Student Handbook. Must be 18 years or older.
