Chicago Dive Bar Country sounds with Midwest Punk grit - Sparkle Carcass formed in 2017 around drummer Aaron Vincel and songwriter Cody Palmer following the dissolution of their previous efforts with power pop trio Tuff Slang. Sparkle Carcass embodies “don’t bore us get to the chorus” pop songwriting sensibilities with traditional country boogie and shake.

Sparkle Carcass’s second record ‘Maraschino Chevy’ was included in Bandcamp’s Best Country Records of October 2025 list saying “Sparkle Carcass calls what they do “Chicago dive bar country,” but you can call it the kind of meat-and-potatoes country rock associated with Drive-By Truckers and the Rolling Stones—a pretty good one, as far as lineages go!”
