EXTRA SHOW - WED 9th SEPT This very special show, based on a script by renowned Roscommon playwright and historian Tommy Murray, has been described as an epic journey through some of the most significant moments in Irish history, told through ballads, songs, poetry, music, dramatic action and narration. Beginning with the 1798 Rebellion and concluding with the War of Independence (1919–1921), the production explores the vital role played by Ireland's songwriters, poets and composers during one of the most traumatic and transformative periods in our nation's story.
Through a unique combination of song, music, dramatic re-enactment and narration, the audience is transported through the defining events that shaped modern Ireland, bringing history vividly to life on stage.
Featuring the voices of the 120-member Roscommon Solstice Choir, accompanied by musicians and dramatic narration, The Songs That Made a Nation promises a stirring, emotional and uplifting theatrical experience.
