Discover the foundational techniques of bonsai while working directly with living trees in this hands-on workshop. Participants will learn basic design principles, pruning, wiring, potting, and ongoing care, with an emphasis on slowing down and working with intention.
Each participant will work with their own Tiger Bark Ficus bonsai tree and leave with a finished bonsai to take home. No prior bonsai experience is necessary. This workshop includes tree, pot, soil, wire and instruction.

About Daniel Deephouse
Daniel Deephouse is a lifelong bonsai practitioner and educator from Perth, Australia. He began studying bonsai at the age of eight under the guidance of his grandmother, Elizabeth Deephouse. He is currently the Assistant Curator of Bonsai at The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens and teaches private, group, and corporate workshops. His work centers on using bonsai to foster presence, creativity, and connection to the natural world.
