PCL Presents: Lowertown

The songwriting partnership of Olivia Osby and Avsha Weinberg has faced serious challenges in recent years. Constant touring, a label split, creative frustrations, and an unhealthy attachment strained both their collaboration and their friendship — intensified by the turbulence of their late teens and early twenties.

Eventually, they realized they needed to reconnect with their roots. Those roots lie in Atlanta, Georgia — among forests, DIY venues, punk communities, and Weinberg’s family basement — but also on the early internet. The band grew up on Tumblr and Reddit, in digital spaces that fostered real-world connections through concerts and shared passions.

During the pandemic, they saw these spaces become commodified or disappear, leaving a void for genuine community. From that void, the Ugly Duckling Union was born.
