Paws for Reading
Children read aloud one-on-one to a certified therapy dog in short supervised sessions to build confidence.
Paws for Reading allows children to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to a certified therapy dog. Children may find it intimidating to read with peers, but love to read to the non-judgmental, calming therapy dog.
This partnership allows children to bolster their self-confidence, reduce reading anxiety, and enjoy the experience of reading. Each 10-minute session will include a child, parent or guardian, a dog handler and a licensed therapy dog.
Sign up is required and available at the Children's Desk 15 minutes before the event begins. Space is limited.
