Patch It Up: How to Create a Linocut Printed Patch
DIY · Adults: 18 and up · Maker Lab
Join Legler Maker Lab staff and the Summer Maker-in-Residence, Josie, for this workshop, where students will dive into the world of linocut printmaking. First, we will learn the basics of designing and carving a linocut block, how to use the tools, materials, and various tips and tricks to achieve the best print. We will then explore how to print our hand-carved blocks onto fabric to create a unique patch. Students will leave with their own patch and a hand-carved stamp to use again and again.
Participants are encouraged to come with some loose ideas and inspirations to explore in this workshop.
We will be working with messy inks. It is recommended to wear clothes that can get stained. No prior experience necessary. All materials will be provided. This course is not recommended for children. Each participant will leave with a linocut printed linen patch and block of their making.
