OFFline presents: The Song Cycle
Screening of Nick Kelly’s documentary about his bicycle journey from Dublin to Glastonbury, a celebration of sustainability and family
In 2022, musician and filmmaker Nick Kelly cycled from his home in Dublin to the Glastonbury Festival in Somerset, England, carrying his guitar, tent and all the other essentials. He was accompanied by his friend and 'Dogs' collaborator Sean Millar, who was following the same route on public transport. The pair stopped to perform in different venues along the route, making their way towards a grand finale at Glastonbury.
Nick's charming documentary about the journey proves a celebration of sustainability in its many forms, while also allowing the filmmaker to thoughtfully reflect on his relationship with his late father. It's a film that encourages viewers to stay in the saddle and keep pedalling, whatever the weather, traffic or gradient faced.
Winner - Best Independent Film - Galway Film Fleadh 2024
"A small film but perfectly realised on its own terms. Kelly could hardly be more agreeable company" - Donald Clarke, The Irish Times
