Mount Mansfield Release Party
Avec Nihal Ramchandani, Sam Boston, Shawn O'Sullivan, Webb Crawford
Intimate release night for Sam Boston & Shawn O'Sullivan's electroacoustic Mount Mansfield with live performance, experimental guitar and DJ set by Nihal Ramchandani
An intimate gathering at the Reforesters in belated celebration of the release of Sam Boston and Shawn O'Sullivan's electroacoustic piece "Mount Mansfield" on Critique of Everyday Life. They will perform alongside experimental guitarist and instrument builder Webb Crawford and Ergot Records' Nihal Ramchandani on DJ duty.
Sam Boston is from Connecticut. He builds instruments, tools, and sometimes sculptures. He likes resonating objects, long-duration events, and attempts at repetition. His work is about what you want it to be about.
As an artist, O’Sullivan has long explored the juncture between hard-hitting, functional dancefloor material and more lofty, conceptual work. In various guises, he has released on labels such as Avian, Sacred Bones, Minimal Wave/Cititrax, and Critique of Everyday Life.
Webb Crawford is a guitarist, tenor banjoist, and instrument-builder who works in free and structured improvisation. Their focus as a builder is in modern reinterpretations of historical stringed instruments. They work regularly with Michael Foster, Joey Sullivan, Zosha Warpeha, Sean Ali, Jack Langdon, Stella Silbert, and Chuck Roth, and play in projects including Field Recordings, Michael Foster & strings, Jessica Pavone’s Mandible Trio, and Jersey Star.
Nihal Ramchandani is a Texas-born, New York City-based DJ. A lifelong student of music, he threads together the high and low with a singular touch. At Nihal's hands, the sacred traditions of American dance music are refigured as sprawling, experimentalist impulses. You can also find him behind the counter at Ergot Records, where he's sure to tip you off to the hottest obscurities.
