Half‑day hands-on workshop to make and take home a 14th‑century style Suffolk leather book, materials included
Make a soft leather Suffolk Book dating from the 14th century and commonly used by medieval merchants. Materials and equipment are supplied and you will have a completed book to take home and use as a sketchbook or notebook.
Suitable for beginners and those over 15 years old.
The workshop takes place in the upper level of the Centre, accessed via a set of wooden stairs which are fairly steep. Expect medieval sounds and smells as the building is a visitor centre where other crafts and skills take place on the ground floor.
There are no toilet facilities in the building; public toilets are a short walk away. A pay-and-display car park is close to the building. Nearby eateries include cafes, pubs and a pizzeria opposite the building.
