Lisa Hinterreithner: many in a bed

Austrian choreographer Lisa Hinterreithner’s performance explores a joyful encounter with plants and earth, and a sense of playful intimacy. Yet this is not limited to human relationships alone. In many in a bed, the audience encounters forms of cross-species encounters somewhere between blossoming and decay.

As is so often the case in Hinterreithner’s work, it is a playful curiosity that drives her together with the performers Magdalena Forster, Theo Emil Krausz and Carla Rihl. In this new work, this unfolds within an installation-like setting featuring paradoxical natural objects. Branches, clods of earth and fruits encounter plastic; organic material meets all those artificial particles that have long since become part of our bodies.

Constantly seeking libidinal encounters with what might be a ‘botanical subconscious’, a space emerges that is as sensual as it is calming. How comforting can non-human eroticism be – and how does one kiss a plant?

The performance marks the start of a series that will explore new forms of encounters at future venues in Vienna and Salzburg.
