LEARN: Festive Garland Making
Learn · Activities · 18+
Get into the festive spirit with a burst of creativity this Christmas! Join printmaker Alex Williams for a fun and engaging 2.5-hour workshop where you’ll learn the basics of relief printing and create a bright, cheerful Christmas garland to take home. In this beginner-friendly session, Alex will guide you through designing and creating your own relief printing plates from craft foam, then show you how to print your designs in classic festive colours. You’ll turn your prints into a beautiful handmade garland ready to hang up at home or for gifting to someone special this holiday season. You’ll be able to take your relief plates and your knowledge home with you to print more garlands, cards or gift tags. Come along, try something new, and enjoy a relaxed creative morning or afternoon; whether you come with friends, bring a loved one, or treat yourself to a little festive making time! About your workshop leader: Alex studied Fine Art and Illustration at university and has a PGCE in secondary Art and Design. She is an experienced teacher and workshop leader and combines this with her practice as a freelance artist and illustrator, working with both print and paint. Alex loves colour and pattern and is inspired by richly decorated, historical ceramics, architecture and bright florals and often uses still life compositions in her work. Alex’s printmaking and drawing styles often consist of flat layers of bold colour which lends itself to using the ‘jigsaw’ method to create prints.
