The route is marked out with brown daisy signs from the motorway all the way to Cheddon Fitzpaine.
Upon following the sign from Cheddon Fitzpaine, stay on the main road until you reach Hestercombe Gardens. Do not take a turn onto Hestercombe Road as this will take you to the farm and not to Hestercombe Gardens.
Join printmaker Alex Williams for an introductory session to lino printing. Linocut is a satisfying way of creating bold, repeatable images. Alex will guide you to develop your design ready for carving into a piece of lino and teach you how to safely carve it. You’ll then learn how to ink up your carved plate ready to print onto paper. You can make your own cards or print directly onto paper.
Please feel free to bring along a packed lunch to enjoy in your lunch break, tea and coffee will be available in the workshop room.
About your workshop leader:
I am a Somerset based artist and printmaker whose work focuses on still life, ceramics and architecture. In my work I seek to simplify form and pattern and enjoys using a bright and bold colour palette to create joyful prints. I have a BA in Fine Art/Illustration and Art History where I first learnt a range of different printmaking methods. I also have a PGCE in Art and Design and am an experienced teacher and workshop leader - I run a number of the children’s and young people’s workshops here at Taunton Brewhouse as well as printmaking and art workshops for adults. I love printmaking as a medium as I love the problem-solving aspect and the multi-step processes involved in creating each piece. I use a range of different linocut techniques depending on the outcome I'm hoping to achieve but also enjoy experimenting with more direct methods of monoprinting to create one off pieces.
