Avec G. Kura, Hamatsuki, Hiroko Yamamura, Valley Dolly
Late-night Bassiani club session with valley Dolly, G. Kura, Hamatsuki and Hiroko Yamamura spinning house, techno and acid
On August 15, Horoom welcomes Valley Dolly, the extraordinary voice of Tbilisi’s queer scene; Reflector resident G. Kura from Kutaisi; Hamatsuki from the Unforseen label; and DJ and producer Hiroko Yamamura, the exceptional selector, whose raw, jacking sound, fluidly oscillating between house, techno, and acid, has made her a distinctive outlier.
Raised in a first-generation Japanese American family in the suburbs of Chicago, Hiroko Yamamura first studied violin before moving on to guitar. Emerging from her hometown's industrial scene while recognising its rich house heritage, she embodies a diverse mix of musical traditions, channelling them into infectious, high-energy DJ sets.
Alongside the deep influence of underground culture, her artistic vision is inspired by classic science fiction, 1980s Japanese cyberpunk, dark anime, comic books, video games, and the futuristic possibilities of making music with hardware machines and computers. For Hiroko Yamamura, the dancefloor is a place where people can leave everyday struggles behind, celebrate freedom, and find genuine joy and togetherness through music.
