Further Water Colour Paint making
Creative Courses
Deepen your relationship with colour in this immersive, hands-on workshop led by the paint-makers and artists of Ferrous and Bone (previously Art Scribe). Whether you're returning to develop your practice or joining fresh with an interest in colour, this workshop shifts the focus from paint making to the art of colour creation itself. Through guided, practical exercises, you’ll explore how pigments interact in watercolour, using traditional hand tools to blend and build entirely new hues. Both methodical and playful, the process will increase understanding of how colour mixing truly works. You’ll begin by painting your own watercolour mixing chart, mapping out a spectrum of possibilities and identifying combinations that resonate with you. From there, you’ll use raw pigments to develop your chosen mixes into hand-mulled watercolour paint. By the end of the session, you’ll have made your own hand-mulled watercolour paints and contributed to a shared palette of unique colours, created by the group and ready to take home. The workshop is structured yet relaxed, encouraging creative decision-making, curiosity and collaboration. All materials and equipment provided, however you are welcome to bring along 1–2 of your favourite watercolour paint brushes and watercolour pad.
