Create a Custom Card with The Firecracker Press

Join Eric Woods of The Firecracker Press for this one day workshop to create your own custom card!

Please note: This workshop will take place in two parts on Saturday, September 5 at Central Library's Creative Experience.

Custom Card Workshop Part 1: Saturday, September 5, 10am-12pm

Learn how to design and prepare a digital file to be made into a laser etched printing plate using Creative Experience's laser cutter. The finished etching will be used with the printing press at Central in Part 2!

Custom Card Workshop Part 2: Saturday, September 5, 2pm-4pm

We will take a break from 12pm-2pm while Creative Experience staff turn your digital file into a laser cut creation. At 2pm, we will discover how to print your laser etched plate on the antique Chandler and Price letterpress (c. 1910) at Central Library and create folded cards with your design; envelopes included. You will take home what you make!

About the Instructor:

Eric Woods started The Firecracker Press, a letterpress printing and design studio, in February of 2002. He uses antique printing technology, combined with modern thinking, to produce objects that bring surprise and joy. He designs and prints posters, fine prints, social stationery, greeting cards, invitations, and more. You can see his work at www.firecrackerpress.com.

Eric is also the founder and board chair of Central Print, a non-profit community printshop providing workshops and programs using historic printing equipment, started in 2014.
