Black August Crafts: Interlocking Art

Celebrate Black August with a hands-on, creative program that honors Black resistance, liberation, and collective memory. Patrons are invited to design interlocking table cards featuring Black liberation figures and powerful quotes using art supplies, magazines, clippings, photos, and mixed media. Each card stands on its own while also connecting with others—symbolizing shared struggle, solidarity, and community.

This drop-in program encourages reflection, creativity, and conversation as participants learn about historical and contemporary figures tied to Black August and express what liberation means to them. No artistic experience is required, and all materials will be provided. Completed cards can be taken home or displayed together as a collaborative community installation.
