Beginners and Refreshers Silver Jewellery Evening Classes - Sept 2026
Six-week evening silver jewellery course teaching casting, etching and hands-on making for adults
In this exciting new term we will have 3 weeks of technical skills learning the fundamentals of the ancient art of jewellery making. Introducing new techniques including sand casting and etching.
The last 3 weeks these new skills will be brought over and applied to making jewellery. With sustainability in mind there will be a strong emphasis on recycling old silver and students will be encouraged to incorporate new and unusual materials.
Students have the option to bring in their own old jewellery and be shown how to melt the silver, learning the possibilities to create unique pieces by rolling, forging, texturing, piercing and shaping the metal. Students who don't want to melt their old jewellery can purchase silver in the evening which will be priced on the weight.
