**ALI**
Ali is a three-piece musical project originating from Jakarta, Indonesia. Initiated by Arswandaru and John Paul Patton, Ali incorporates Middle Eastern culture with elements of 70’s Indonesian psychedelic funk, cinematic soul, afrobeat and disco to create a new groove and sound for the contemporary Indonesian music scene. With all lyrics written in Arabic, Ali builds on the influence of Middle Eastern art and music that has assimilated into Indonesian culture, reflecting Arswandaru's Indonesian–Arab heritage.
John Paul (drums) and Arswandaru (bass, vocals) are joined by Absar Lebeh on guitar to complete the trio. They bring their self-described ‘Middle Eastern beats with South East twists’ to stages and festivals, promising a diverse and unique live experience.
