Alex Bone presents Future Funk: LA Edition
Live DJ/set and funk-inflected electronic show by multi-instrumentalist Alex Bone blending house, disco and live sax
**Alex Bone** grew up in Darlington, UK, living two musical lives at once. One revolved around instruments. He was at the piano before he could walk and picked up the saxophone soon after. The other revolved around dance music: his first Fatboy Slim record, stacks of Ministry of Sound compilations, and his first beats programmed on a PlayStation game.
As a teenager he rose to acclaim on both fronts at once, winning the BBC Musician Jazz Award at just 17 while releasing his own house music online and remixing artists like Kylie Minogue for Parlophone and Spinnin' Records. That work opened doors to collaborations with Nile Rodgers, Tom Misch, and Cory Wong as he kept sharpening his sound.
What sets Alex apart is that he does so much entirely on his own. He writes, produces, mixes, and engineers his own music, and is a true multi-instrumentalist; playing live saxophone and keys and performing every part on stage. The result is a self-produced, feel-good electronic sound that sits somewhere in the Mark Ronson, Nile Rodgers, and Justice lane.
Now based in Los Angeles, he's building fast, with a growing fanbase and early support from tastemakers including Disclosure, Jacob Collier, and BBC Radio 1.
