Alewives, Hannah Frey, Toadvine
Three US country‑rock and alt‑country acts from Wisconsin and Chicago share an evening of rootsy folk rock and jangly roadhouse tunes.
Alewives is a country-rock band known to jangle, choogle, twang, drone, and maybe even jam. The Wisconsin-based project draws from numerous classic forms like heartland rock, power-pop, roots, and more. An equal dose of tongue-in-cheek and heart-on-sleeve, Alewives wavers between descants of self doubt and wry tales of frustration at the self-serve laundry.
Hannah Frey and her band play folk rock for lovers and sweeties. She feels like the luckiest girl in Chicago and hopes to leave you with a little bit of that luck.
Toadvine is an alt-country band from Chicago. Their sound is equal parts 60s-influenced garage-y indie rock and equal parts roadhouse bar country; pretty much they sound kind of like if Elephant 6 held a jamboree at the Grand Ole Opry.
