WorldPride month: Cripping Eros
A multidisciplinary WorldPride evening exploring disability, gender and queer sexuality with performances, lectures and video essays.
Friday 10 July
WORLDPRIDE MONTH: CRIPPING EROS
Cripping Eros is a multidisciplinary evening at Plein Theater in Amsterdam-Oost in which artists and thinkers offer new perspectives on the representation of disability, gender and (queer) sexuality. The evening presents a diverse and deepening programme with a performance by Hann van Schendel, a lecture by cripqueer artist Menko Dijksterhuis and video essays by Mira Thompson. Finally there will be an interview with Jacqueline Kool, who works as a researcher and author on disability and sexuality. The evening is hosted by Eline Pollaert, who brings the makers and the audience into conversation and creates space for deepening and new ways of looking.
Cripping Eros is an ode to bodies, desires and stories that too often remain invisible. The evening fits well with WorldPride Amsterdam.
Makers: Hann van Schendel, Menko Dijksterhuis, Jacqueline Kool, Carly Everaert and Mira Thompson | Host: Eline Pollaert
JULY 2026: WORLDPRIDE MONTH AT PLEIN THEATER
Plein Theater celebrates queerness with a bold and motley programme full of theatre, film, drag, and performance. Throughout the year, but especially during the month of July, Plein Theater gives unfiltered visibility to film and emerging artists engaging with queer themes. This year in the spirit of the extraordinary WorldPride Amsterdam, whose theme UNITY stands for solidarity, connection, and a shared fight for equality.
An important part of the programme originates from an open call as part of our co-creation programme, where shared ownership and participation are key. Ten emerging and talented artists present work that engages with queer perspectives, identity, the body, freedom, and the many ways in which we can celebrate ourselves and each other.
From 15th to 19th of July we screen ten queer films by the feminist film collective Cinemien. We also bring drag back to the theatre with a special WorldPride edition featuring the drag queen Sederginne. Together with queer.red and Lesbique we explore the boundaries of queer erotique during Darkroom on Stage.
