A music and art collective dedicated to soul and indie influenced electronic dance music, edgy graphic design, independent fashion, DJ culture and the art of throwing parties. The Toy Tonics music style ranges from underground disco and new wave funk to wild-style house and more freaky ecclectic music. Most of the Toy Tonics artists are based in Berlin where the label throws regular partys at illegal locations and venues like Funkhaus, Zenner, Aeden, OXI Club or Panorama Bar. Since 2022 the crew also organizes worldwide events (The Toy Tonics Jams) that take place in important clubs like Phonox, E1 or Jazz Cafe in London, Badaboum and Sacre in Paris, Nitsa in Barcelona or Apollo in Milan. Label founder and creative director is KAPOTE aka Mathias Modica, who founded the label in 2015 with some friends who share the same passion for DJ culture, vinyl digging, innovative music production and a certain obsession for all kind of individualistic styles in art and music. Before Toy Tonics Mathias used to run GOMMA records (2000 - 2015) where he produced Indie-Dance records for and with artists like Peaches, WhoMadeWho, James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, Nick McCarthy of Franz Ferdinand etc. The style of Toy Tonics is influenced by American house music, Italo disco, Balearic vibes, NY punk funk and the more open minded dancefloor sounds of the Y2K period. The label releases one EP per month. Vinyl & digital. Toy Tonics discovered and released music by Cody Currie, Coeo, Sam Ruffillo, Barbara Boeing, Joel Holmes, Gee Lane, Athlete, Kosmo Kint, Sound Support (aka Dam Swindle), Demuja, Luke Solomon, The Phenomenal Handclap Band, Baby’s Berserk etc.
