PLACCC 2026

PLACCC International Festival of Site-specific Art and Art in Public Space, organized yearly since 2008, presents an international and local selection of art forms in unusual places and in public space.

The consecutive editions of the festival are mostly organised in downtown Budapest. Two special editions have also taken place: in Pécs (European Capital of Culture programme, May 2010) and in Csepel (May 2013). After the Csepel edition, PLACCC continued work there and expanded activities toward more community-based and participative practices. The organisation also supports public art projects of local, especially emerging, artists year-round.

International collaborations and partnerships with other sectors — universities, urban development and city planning organisations, and environmental organisations — play an important role in the festival's activities.

The main aims of PLACCC are both artistic and social: to introduce lesser-known artistic forms in Hungary through a varied cultural programme; to engage new audiences and encourage Hungarian artists to work outside traditional venues; to shed new light on urban locations with artistic projects; to provide a platform for dialogue and interdisciplinary encounters; to develop critical approaches to the use of public space and rethink power mechanisms embedded in the urban context; and to inspire greater awareness and participation in public issues.
