Join EastEnders writer Bea Roberts for a fun and informative dive into writing for TV soaps. Whether you know your Albert Square from your elbow or you’re simply curious about writing for telly, by the end of this short course you’ll have the beginnings of your very own soap.
Through informal writing exercises and discussion we’ll explore what makes soap stories tick, how to create iconic characters and all those twists and turns that have millions tuning in week after week. You don’t need to be an EastEnders fan or have ever put pen to paper; this light hearted workshop is a chance to dip your toe into creating soapy stories and discovering your inner drama diva.
About your workshop leader
Bea Roberts is a multi-award winning playwright and screenwriter from the West Country. She currently writes for BBC’s EastEnders and is developing original series for screen alongside writing the stage adaptation of Max Porter’s Lanny for Bristol Old Vic Theatre.
